Project Overview
4E Welding & Design Inc. managed the design and construction of an exterior staircase near downtown Okotoks. This comprehensive project included dirt work, foundation, fabrication, delivery, and installation. The staircase's unique design featured sweeping arches and multi-level stringers, adding a southern flair. Heavy structural steels, poured concrete for the foundation, and concrete slabs for the steps were used. The downtown Okotoks location provided a vibrant backdrop, enhancing the project's aesthetic appeal.
The staircase not only serves a functional purpose but also enhances the building's visual appeal. Challenges & Solutions
The project faced several challenges. Hoarding concrete during late winter required careful planning to ensure it set correctly in cold temperatures. Ensuring proper elevation for pilings and footings was crucial for structural integrity.
Transporting and delivering large sections in busy downtown Okotoks required road closure permissions and precise planning. The limited space between the building and its neighbor added complexity, necessitating precise maneuvering and installation techniques.
